KSA Grading: Canada’s Own Card Grading Company, Compared With PSA
KSA is the Canadian grading company many hockey collectors use. When it makes sense, when PSA is worth the extra cost and wait, and what to check first.
By Card Shows & Shops · October 22, 2026
KSA is a Canadian card grading company with locations in Ontario and British Columbia, where collectors have been able to drop off cards in person. It is a common choice for hockey cards and for cards worth a few hundred dollars or less.
KSA or PSA?
- Resale value: for most cards, a PSA slab sells for more than the same grade from a smaller company. For a valuable card you plan to sell, that difference can be bigger than the grading fee.
- Cost and time: KSA has historically been cheaper and faster for Canadians, with no border to cross. PSA’s cheapest tiers have had long waits; see PSA grading cost.
- Keeping vs selling: if you are grading to protect and display a card you will keep, the label matters less.
KSA’s prices and turnaround have changed over the years, and the figures in older reviews are out of date. Check KSA’s own site for current prices before you send anything.
Not sure which way to go? Ask the dealers at a card show; they see what each slab sells for every weekend. For PSA from Canada, see PSA Canada.
Questions collectors ask
- Is KSA grading good?
- It is a long-running Canadian grader that many hockey collectors use, especially for mid-value cards. PSA slabs usually sell for more, so for valuable cards you plan to sell, PSA is often worth the extra cost.
